ASSOCIAZIONE UNIAMOCI ONLUS

Associazione Uniamoci Onlus is a non-profit organization that works in the field of integration and young disabled people’s social assistance. It is bases in Palermo (ITALY). The method used to reach this main objective is the implementation of projects involving young people and young disable people as well, stimulating them to be active European Citizens.

 

 

The activities  carried out by Uniamoci Onlus Association are:

- Implementation of local and European projects involving disabled and able bodied participants, in order to create inclusive non-formal learning opportunities on different topics (Youth exchanges, seminars, youth initiatives under the YiA programme and Senior volunteering projects and Leonardo mobilities under LLP)

- Local activities in order to realize young disabled people’s social inclusion: organization of trips and periodical recreational events, management of a daily youth centre, a web radio and a newspaper

- Promotion and claim of social institutions’ commitment to help weak and disadvantaged people

- Promotion of Active citizenship and social awareness campaigns- Promotion of the mobility of young people, young disabled people and volunteers

- Constant complain about the injustices towards disabled people. This activity is documented through photos, movies and newspaper articles

 

 

The 80% of the members in Associazione Uniamoci Onlus are young people (18 – 30 years old) and 50% are young disabled people. It carries out its activities by the help and the contribution of a competent staff of 10 people (consisting of administrative figures, lawyers, youth educators, personal carers, physiotherapists and psychologists )and the support of several volunteers, with a considerable experience in the implementation of local, national and transnational projects

Uniamoci Onlus receveid on free loan, by Palermo’s Town Council a property confiscated to the Mafia and situated in 36,Via Giafar. This centre is a point of reference for social, cultural and study activities for all Palermo’s disabled guys.
